(Georgetown) – The boys 4×200 relay team of Christian Soefje, R-Teston Tucy, Marques Washington, and Tristan Moreno won the District 25-26 area championship to headling a group of Seguin athletes who qualified for the 5A Region IV meet in four events on Wednesday at Georgetown-East View.
The 4×200 relay team posted a time of 1:30.07.
Moreno is also headed to the regional meet in the 100 meters and 200 meters after finishing second in both races at the area competition. He ran a time of 10.91 seconds in the 100 and 21.83 in the 200.

Schultze no-hits Tivy in Seguin’s fourth straight district win, Friday game vs. Buda-Johnson to air on KWED
(Kerrville) – Seguin freshman Madyson Schultze pitched a no-hitter to help the Matadors win their fourth consecutive District 26-5A softball game Tuesday night, 3-1 over Tivy in Kerrville.
Schultze struck out six Antlers, and the only run she allowed was unearned as the result of a Seguin error.
Ashlie Aguilar, Mia Cevallos, and Vanessa Sanchez each drove in a run. Cevallos, Allie Mize, and Allie Kubena each scored once. Mize went 2-4. Layla Salazar doubled.

(New Braunfels) – Seguin High School senior Tristan Moreno won the gold medal in the 100 meters and anchored the first-place 4×200 relay team to highlight a group of Matador athletes who earned area qualifications in eight events at the District 26-5A track-and-field championships this week at Canyon High School in New Braunfels.
Moreno’s 100-meter time of 11.04 was fast enough to beat runner-up Gunnar Betts (11.31) of Dripping Springs.

(Seguin) – On a night when both offenses moved the ball and lit up the scoreboard with little resistance, two great defensive plays in the closing seconds proved the difference as Pflugerville-Hendrickson handed Seguin a 74-70 loss in the 5A Division I bi-district playoffs Friday at Matador Stadium
After the Hawks took the lead on a Jasiya Demps touchdown run with 1:02 to play, the Mats drove from their own 30-yard line to the Hendrickson 16 and faced third-and-one with just 14 seconds left.
