The fire was reported at about 1:15 p.m. Monday on Northbound I-75 at the Big Beaver overpass after the tanker truck struck the center median and caught fire, according to a news release from the Troy Police Department.
Troy Fire Department Lt. Dan Mahrle said the truck contained 10,000 gallons of gasoline and 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
Police said the driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man from Saint Clair, was able to escape. He was transported to a Detroit Medical Center facility with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported, police said.
