R Liza used the pocket ride to victory in Monday evening's $140,000 first Gold Series leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes for sophomore trotting fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

"It was an amazing night, especially seeing [my son] Griff get up there so many times and just see how excited he was to accept the awards. That's what it's all about. Harness racing is great and winning races is great, but it's great to have my family here and just to see the joy in their face seeing me and everyone have success."

The ease with which Willys Home Run won during her rookie season made it seem as if she was born to race. Only, that wasn’t the initial plan.
