JOHNSTOWN The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce is postponing Restaurant Week until later in the year.
In a recent report to the Fulton County Board of Supervisors’ Economic Development and Environment Committee, chamber Director of Tourism Development Anne Boles said the popular event is being delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boles said Restaurant Week featuring specials at area restaurants will be promoted in the late spring and summer.
Due to COVID restrictions at this time, she said it was thought it is best to postpone Restaurant Week “until numbers are better and outside dining could be utilized.”

JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Board of Supervisors on Monday authorized county expenditures for area tourism.
Board action came during the monthly session, which was live streamed via Zoom to the public.
“Maybe we can be in person for our March meeting,” said county Administrative Officer Jon Stead. “That’s certainly our goal.”
The board passed a resolution directing County Treasurer Terry Blodgett to remit $61,807 in a county matching funds allocation for the 2021 “I Love NY” Tourism Grant to the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce. The allocation is effective immediately. The chamber received notification from the state it may not allocate 2021 tourism funds, so the chamber is counting on the county share to promote local tourism.

Futon County Administrative Officer Jon Stead gives his 28th annual State of the County address Friday morning at the Johnstown Holiday Inn.
JOHNSTOWN The annual Fulton County government “State of the County” address after nearly 30 years could be delivered non-traditionally this year due to COVID-19.
The pandemic is hampering the ability to get large groups together, and the county address for many years delivered by County Administrative Officer Jon Stead could be a casualty.
“We are kind of in a holding pattern on that,” Stead said Friday.
The “State of the County” breakfast speech by Stead given yearly about this time of the year is conducted by the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce.
