HYDERABAD: Having dealt a severe blow that upset the applecart of the TRS in the Dubbaka and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the state BJP is gearing up for a repeat performance in the ensuing Graduate MLC elections.
In the first step, it has declared candidates for two Graduate MLC constituencies. It has re-nominated N. Ramchander, the sitting MLC from the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar (HRRM) seat, while for the Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam (NWK) constituency it is fielding senior leader G. Premender Reddy.
State reports 177 new COVID cases

Telangana recorded 177 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total to 2,95,101. While 41,343 people were examined, results of 1,323 were awaited. Two more COVID-19 patients died.
The new 177 cases include 30 from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 11 each from Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri. No case was reported in Suryapet, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Medak, and Kumaram Bheem Asifabad.
From March 2-2020 to February 3 of this year, 79,96,651 people were tested and 2,95,101 were detected with coronavirus. Out of the total cases, 1,985 were active cases, 2,91,510 have recovered, and 1,606 people have died.

With the new incoming set of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)
corporators all set to take charge a day after the present GHMC council term ends on February 10, the stage is all set for an interesting mayoral election. All the 149 waiting corporators will take oath in a meeting at 11:00 a.m.
On February 11, 2021, the newly elected members in a special meeting will elect the GHMC mayor, considered to be the first citizen of Hyderabad, by a show of hands. The corporators will vote based on directions of their respective party
