Rs 1,14,678 crore for Swachh Bharat Mission Published by GulteDesk February 01, 2021 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced allocation of Rs 1,14,678 crore for Swachh Bharat Mission, the cleanliness drive aimed at achieving universal sanitation and also solid waste management, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, cities were given ranking and special funds to improve sanitation in those places. Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh secured impressive ranks in Swachh Survekshan 2020. While Vijayawada ranked fourth, Vizag being touted as the new executive capital was adjudged as the ninth cleanest city in the country with a population of more than 10 lakh. The temple town of Tirupati secured the sixth rank among cities with a population between 1-10 lakh.

By Mohammed Hussain|   Published: 1st February 2021 8:45 pm IST Representative Image Hyderabad: The Veterinary department of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has swung into action to contain the street dog population in the city and prevent rabies disease in street dogs. The veterinary officials under Charminar Zone have inspected the location and caught around 35 street dogs. After taking the stock of the situation Dr Sadguna, assistant director of veterinary wing said that in compliance with the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001, the department is conducting Animal Birth Control-cum-Anti Rabies (ABC-AR) drive to contain the street dog population and prevent rabies disease in street dogs.

Bahadurpura: Stray Dog Attack Kills Young Boy

Jan 31, 2021, 12:04 IST In a shocking incident, a nine year old boy was killed when stray dogs attacked him. The incident took place in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad. The deceased was identified as Md Ayaan. According to the reports, he was attacked by a group of five stray dogs. A. Narsimha Rao, sub-inspector, Bahadurpura police station speaking to TOI said that, “While the rest of the children managed to escape from the spot, Ayaan could not. The dogs chased him around for a while before attacking him. The boy was injured and died on the spot.” It is said that Ayaan had gone to play along with his friends on Saturday evening. He didn t return home after a very long time and he was found dead when his parents started searching for him.
