Guwahati (Assam) [India], May 10 (ANI): Himanta Biswa Sarma, the charioteer of BJP s stride in the Northeast, is now the brightest star in the political spectrum in the city of eastern lights. The 52-year-old leader is all set to swear in as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam on Monday.
Sarma was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in Assam on Sunday. He will replace Sarbananda Sonowal, who tendered his resignation as Assam Chief Minister to Governor Jagadish Mukhi on Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the charioteer of BJP`s stride in the Northeast, is all set to take oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam amid a simple ceremony on Monday.
Himanta Sarma, who was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in Assam on Sunday, will replace Sarbananda Sonowal, who tendered his resignation as Assam Chief Minister to Governor Jagadish Mukhi.

This decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was reached after a protracted spell of dilly-dallying which included the theatre of hectic discussion â whether to pick the incumbent chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the claimant to the seat, Sarma â shifting to New Delhi for a day on May 8 before it was tossed back to a meeting of the partyâs MLAs, and its alliance partners, on May 9 to zero in on the name for the top post.

New Delhi, May 10 : Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi has decided to constitute a fact finding committee to find reasons for the partys defeat in the four states which went to the polls recently.
After the Congress Working Committee meeting on Monday, party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said, The committee will be constituted within 48 hours.
