Abbas Siddiqui’s Indian Secular Front Stitches Alliance with Congress-Left Ditching Owaisi in Bengal Polls FOLLOW US ON: In a significant political development ahead of the crucial Assembly polls in West Bengal, the alliance between Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and the newly-formed Indian Secular Front (ISF) of Abbas Siddiqui, is likely to run in to a rough weather with the new political equation emerging between ISF and the Congress-Left Front. No foreign government supported farmers protest, but a few motivated PIOs have: Centre File Photo While responding to a question raised in the Lok Sabha, the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a written reply stated that no foreign government has till now extended support to the ongoing farmers protest in India, even though a few motivated Indian-origin individuals were raising issues against the agri laws. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the reply was issued by minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan in response to the query raised by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MPs Syed Imtiaz Jaleel and Asaduddin Owaisi. The query was centered on whether any foreign governments and PIOs had shown solidarity with the farmers protests.

Congress Releases First List of 142 Candidates for Gujarat Local Body Polls FOLLOW US ON: The Congress on Monday released its first list of 142 candidates for various wards in five municipal corporations, except Ahmedabad, for the local body polls scheduled to be held in two phases later this month. The list contains the names for different wards in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporations. Among the 142 candidates, the Congress has declared the names of 52 contestants for Surat civic body, 20 for Vadodara, 22 for Rajkot, 27 for Jamnagar, and 21 for Bhavnagar civic bodies. The BJP has not yet declared its list of candidates for the polls.
