Man shot at home just outside of Sylvan Beach; 2nd man in custody

Vienna, N.Y. A 42-year-old man was shot during an argument Tuesday morning inside a home near Sylvan Beach, troopers said.
The accused assailant was arrested at the residence, said Trooper Jack Keller, a New York State Police spokesman. The attacker’s name and charges were not immediately available.
The shooting was reported at 7:09 a.m. at 7289 state Route 13, a home on the east side of Oneida Lake just outside of Sylvan Beach.
It’s unclear how the gun went off. The two men were arguing when one pulled out the weapon, Keller said.
ADAMS CENTER â Two people are in the hospital after a crash between a FedEx delivery truck and an SUV midday Sunday.
According to Adams Center Fire Chief Travis VanKoughnett, the two vehicles collided just before 11:45 a.m., at the intersection of Fuller and Minkler roads.
The FedEx truck was headed eastbound on Minkler Road, and the SUV was traveling south on Fuller Road. The truck had a stop sign, the SUV did not.
âIt looks like the FedEx truck failed to yield at the stop sign,â Mr. VanKoughnett said.
The truck hit the passenger side of the SUV, pinning the vehicle underneath. Mr. VanKoughnett said crews spent between 10 and 15 minutes working to extricate a female passenger from the SUV.
3 hurt, 60 gallons of fuel spilled after pickup truck hits tractor-trailer in CNY

Town of Mexico, N.Y. Three people were hurt after a pickup truck crashed into a tractor-trailer Thursday morning in Oswego County.
The head-on crash happened around 11:40 a.m. on State Route 104 in the town of Mexico. About 60 gallons of fuel leaked from the damaged tractor-trailer’s fuel tank after the accident, the New York State Police said.
Shamus P. McDowell, 23, of Mexico, was driving east in a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck when he veered into oncoming traffic, troopers said. His truck crashed into the front of a westbound 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer, troopers said.
Distracted East Syracuse teen drove off road, into creek in DeWitt, police say

DeWitt, N.Y. An East Syracuse teenager drove off Kirkville Road in DeWitt and into a creek this weekend because she was distracted, state police said.
Jazmyne A. Short, 17, was distracted inside the vehicle Sunday night when she veered off the road, struck an earth embankment and went into the creek, state police spokesman Trooper Jack Keller said. He did not elaborate on how she became distracted while driving.
The vehicle Short was driving became partially submerged in the creek, Keller said.
Someone nearby called 911 at 10:52 p.m. Sunday to report the crash. The 911 caller told dispatchers the driver was able to swim to shore, although the dispatcher described the creek as small and swampy.
Man injured when snowmobile crashed into SUV in Sylvan Beach

Sylvan Beach, N.Y. A man was injured Saturday afternoon when he crashed his snowmobile into an SUV in Sylvan Beach, troopers said.
The snowmobiler Brian A. Hatton, 30, of Sylvan Beach was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident near 1804 Vienna Road, the New York State Police said in a news release Monday.
Hatton hit his head, troopers said, and was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.
The accident happened at 5:41 p.m. on Vienna Road near 18th Avenue.
Hatton missed a stop sign and drove onto Vienna Road, crashing into the passenger side of a southbound 2009 Subaru Forester, troopers said. He was rushed by Vineall Ambulance to Upstate, where he is listed in stable condition, troopers said.
