Gouverneur woman killed in Friday crash in Canton

CANTON — A 30-year-old Gouverneur woman was killed in a Friday afternoon accident on Route 11 in the town of Canton. State police said a vehicle operated by Sally T. Dingsoyr, 85, of Potsdam, was northbound and entered the southbound lane of travel, into the path of a vehicle operated by Amanda E. Perry, 30, of Gouverneur. They said Ms. Perry attempted to avoid a collision and swerved to the north shoulder of the roadway, but the two vehicles collided. St. Lawrence County Coroner Joseph White pronounced Ms. Perry dead at the scene and authorized the removal of her body to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where an autopsy is scheduled for today.

OCC To Host Three Commencement Ceremonies Saturday

SYRACUSE, NY – Onondaga Community College will celebrate its 58th commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 15 at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. in the SRC Arena, located at Onondaga Community College, 4585 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215-4585. Over 400 students total will participate in the three ceremonies. These students completed their coursework in either the fall 2020, spring 2021, or summer 2021 semesters. To meet all social distance requirements the following procedures are in place. All event attendees, including members of the media, must have either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within three days of the ceremonies. Each student may bring a maximum of two guests.

The Crunch have won the season series against the Comets and taken the Galaxy Cup in each of the last five seasons. Tonight’s win advances the team to 18-9-3-0 on the season and 7-4-2-0 with one game remaining in the 14-game season series with Utica.
