VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Van Zandt County Sheriffâs Office deputies arrested a Mabank man Friday afternoon in connection with a shooting incident that resulted in one person being taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Troy Wayne Baker, 48, of Mabank. is still being held in the Van Zandt County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault. He has not been arraigned yet, so no bond amounts have been set for his charges.
The Hays County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a deadly shooting on Sunfield Drive in Buda. Officials began investigating after arriving on scene around 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 21 after reports of gunshots in the area. A man with gunshot wounds was discovered on scene and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A Dahlonega woman was arrested Friday and faces a felony theft by taking charge after she allegedly stole nearly $107,000 from the North Hall County church she worked for.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation found that 49-year-old Alycia Christy took the funds from Northlake Baptist Church on Thompson Bridge Road between Jan. 2018 and Jan. 2021.
Investigators first learned of the theft when deputies responded to the church on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Church officials had discovered that Christy had been stealing the funds, according to the release.
The release states Christy, an administrative assistant at the church, had used the money to pay credit card bills.

Sheriff s Office Identifies Wednesday s Standoff Suspect
SAN ANGELO, TX – The Tom Green County Sheriff s Office released more information about Wednesday s standoff.

According to the Tom Green County, on Jan. 6 at approximately 10:30, investigators from the Tom Green County Sheriff s Office Criminal Investigation Division were conducting surveillance on a known felony fugitive.
As the fugitive was entering a vehicle, he observed investigators and began to flee in the vehicle. Investigators began to follow and as the fugitive rounded a corner at high speed he lost control and rolled the vehicle.
