ALBANY Police said they are investigating a killing in which an 18-year-old woman was shot Monday afternoon.
Police said they responded to Essex Street, just west of Rawson Street, at about 2:50 p.m. for a shooting. The woman was found lying in the street, and was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police are not releasing the victim s name until they said family can be notified.

MALTA An out-of-control car critically injured a state worker Tuesday in a construction zone on the Northway, State Police said.
Alexander Marin, 56, remained in critical condition the day after a crash in a work zone near Exit 12 sent him to the hospital with grave injuries and forced authorities to close the highway.
The Ballston Spa man was on foot in a construction zone near Exit 12 when he was hit by a car driven by an 84-year-old Colonie man, troopers said.
Wreck closes northbound side of Northway in Malta

MALTA A crash closed the northbound side of the Northway near Exit 12 and sent three people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, State Police said.
The crash forced troopers to close the highway before Exit 11. Northbound traffic is being detoured off the highway.
The wreck occurred at 1:36 p.m. in a work zone just south of Exit 12. It was unclear when the highway might reopen.
A state Department of Transportation truck was among the vehicles involved, police said.
72-year-old woman in Adirondacks charged with attempted murder

CHESTER State police arrested a 72-year-old woman on Saturday evening and charged her with second-degree attempted murder after her husband was found shot in the chest, the police said on Sunday.
Police were called just after 7 p.m. Saturday to a domestic incident, where they found a man who had been shot. That man was helicoptered to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition. Susan F. Bohmer, 72, was also present at the scene and police took her into custody.
The exact location of the incident is referenced in two different counties by police. State police said the incident happened in Olmsteadville. That hamlet is in the town of Minerva, Essex County. Police also referenced separately that the incident happened in the town of Chester, Warren County, which is where they also identified the suspect appearing in court.
Saratoga Springs jogger hit by alleged drunken driver

SARATOGA SPRINGS - A 72-year-old jogger was seriously injured on Sunday morning after a drunk driver allegedly slammed into him with his vehicle and then fled the scene, Saratoga Springs police said.
Andrew Fincke was jogging on Ballston Avenue at 9 a.m. when Patrick F. Phelan, 53, of Saratoga Springs crashed into him with his 2019 Jeep Renegade. Witnesses at the scene identified the vehicle that was later stopped on Broadway, police said.
Phelan was charged with felony assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, refusal to take a breath test, among other charges.
