ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - COVID-19 vaccines are now being tested in children, with students at the middle school level or even younger possibly able to get vaccinated just in time for the next academic year.
“We are one step closer to having a COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents so that is great news,” said Dr. Debbie-Anne Shirley, a pediatric infectious disease expert at UVA Health.

ALBEMARLE CO., Va. (WVIR) - Two Albemarle County Public Schools are dealing with positive Coronavirus cases.
Monticello High says it learned Tuesday a student tested positive for the virus. Eight other students and five staff were identified as having close contact with the infected student.
Stone Robinson Elementary says it also learned Tuesday a staff member tested positive. Four students have been identified as close contacts.
Everyone affected at both schools is quarantining.

ALBEMARLE CO., Va. (WVIR) - Albemarle County Public Schools has identified new COVID-19 cases.
A student at Burley Middle School in Albemarle County has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a letter sent to families. They will isolate at home for 10 days after being exposed outside of school. Two other students and one staff member identified as close contacts will quarantine for 14 days.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - After months of virtual learning, thousands of students in Albemarle County returned to the classroom Wednesday, March 10.
“It’s a long time coming,” Albemarle County Public Schools Lead Bus Driver Deitra Keys said. “It’s been a rough year.”
Wednesday, ACPS welcomed nearly 4,000 students back to the classroom as part of the district’s soft start to Stage 4 of in-person learning. It expects to double that number of students in the classroom starting Monday, March 15.
