Ashok Suvarna, who came to Oman in 1983 – the same year his home country won their first Cricket World Cup – will return to India with friendships made here that he will treasure for life. What he will miss most about Oman is its natural beauty, culture, and heritage.
His Majesty receives Ambassadors Credentials

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik received separately at Al Barakah Palace this morning credentials of a number of ambassadors of friendly countries accredited to the Sultanate.
His Majesty received credentials of the following ambassadors:
- Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of President Salome Zourabichvili of Georgia, accredited to the Sultanate.
- Orazmuhammet Charyyev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow of the Republic of Turkmenistan, accredited to the Sultanate.
- Vu Viet Dung, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of President Dr. Nguyen Phu Trong of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, accredited to the Sultanate.
Exclusive: India’s honorary consul leaves Oman over dispute

Muscat: India’s honorary consular agent in Salalah hopes to return to Oman after his name is cleared in a legal dispute.
Manpreet Singh left Oman on Sunday night and arrived in Kochi – the commercial capital of Indian State of Kerala on Monday.
Singh lived in Oman for 24 years and was the chairman of the Indian Social Club in Salalah, as well as the convener of the Punjabi Wing.
He used to run his own goods transport business in the southern Dhofar Governorate, consisting of a fleet of trucks, which have been funded through loans from financial organisations. Now, the company will be run by his son in his absence.
Al Bashayer camel festival kicks off

Adam: The 4th round of Al Bashayer Arabian Camel Festival kicked off in the Wilayat of Adam, Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah on Monday.
The festival is organised by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, represented by Department of Al Bashayer Arabian Camel Racecourse.
A wide base of 1,800 camels from the Sultanate and other GCC countries take part in the five-day event.
The first day of the race witnessed 14 rounds for different categories of camels.
Al Bashayer Festival is a sports event that represents a variety of sporting, social and economic values. The festival is organised on an annual basis at Al Bashayer racecourse, which emerges this year 2021 in its new outlook after the completion of expansion works qualifying it to better host all sorts of activities.
