Two thefts were reported in the area last Thursday. The Otter Tail County Sheriff s Office said tools were taken from a shed near Big McDonald Lake, northwest of Dent and south of Vergas. The call came in at 2:35 p.m. on May 23. Another theft too.

The man killed when his pickup was hit by a train in Otter Tail County on Thursday has been identified.
Joe Mack, 60, of Ottertail, was killed when his vehicle was hit by a train southeast of the city of Ottertail at 8:48 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, an Otter Tail County Sheriff s Office report said.
The accident occurred at the railroad crossing on 308th Street, near the 406th Avenue intersection southeast of the city of Ottertail, when the passenger side of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was struck by a Canadian Pacific train.
Train strikes pickup truck near Ottertail, killing driver

OTTERTAIL, Minn. (FOX 9) - The 60-year-old driver of a pickup truck died Thursday after a train struck the side of his vehicle near Ottertail, Minnesota.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the pickup truck was heading east on 308th Street when it crossed the railroad tracks near the intersection with 460th Avenue, southeast of Ottertail.
The man’s pickup truck was struck on the passenger side and was badly damaged, the sheriff s office said.
The pickup truck driver, an Ottertail area resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

OTTERTAIL, Minn. (KFGO) – A truck-train crash killed a man when his pickup pulled into the path of a Canadian Pacific train at a crossing southeast of Ottertail City.
The crash happened about 8:45 a.m. Thurs. According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the pickup was struck on the passenger side by the northbound freight train.
