The Appleton Museum of Art is proud to introduce the Community Heroes Free Admission Program.
Through 2021, the state of Florida’s first responders, health care professionals and educators can enjoy free admission to the Appleton as a thank you for their leadership, lifesaving work and heartfelt dedication to keeping our community safe.
Effective immediately, the following professions are encouraged and welcome to visit the museum for free by showing their official work ID: law enforcement, firefighter, EMT, 911 operators, as well as health care, hospital and hospice professionals, and K-12, college and university instructors.

Emerging Artists
The City of Ocala Municipal Government and the Magnolia Art Xchange invite artists with up to 10 years’ experience to submit entries for the “Spectrum of Creativity” 2021 Student and Emerging Artist Competition, which will take place Friday, April 9 through Wednesday, July 7 at City Hall, located at 110 SE Watula Avenue.
Artists will compete in three divisions according to their respective years of experience: high school students, 1 – 5 years’ active experience, and 6 – 10 years’ active experience. All entries must have been completed within the last two years. Early entries will be given priority placement within the gallery, and the juror will award winners in each division, as well as Best of Show. Awards will be presented at a reception taking place Wednesday, April 21 at City Hall.
“Crimes of the Heart”: This is the final weekend for the Ocala Civic Theatre s presentation of “Crimes of the Heart,” a Southern Gothic comedy. It runs through May 2. Tickets and show times at ocalacivictheatre.com or 236-2274. The theater is located at 4337 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.
Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series: A series of live, free music concerts continues on Fridays from 7-9 p.m. The April 30 performance will be Tiempo Libre Bohemia, supported by Trio Rosal. The shows, at Webb Field, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, are part of the Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series. Concerts will feature an array of cultural performers each week, with a grand finale June 25. Details at ocalafl.org/levittamp.
