As 3.9 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be shipped out to states this week, Michigan is expected to receive 82,700 doses of the vaccine this week according to the state health department.
The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine cleared its final federal regulatory hurdle on Sunday, and was shown to be 66% effective in international trials, but 72% effective in people aged 18 and older in the United States.
Data also is showing evidence the vaccine is 85% effective in preventing severe disease, hospitalization and death starting 28 days after vaccination.
