Two attorneys charged in scheme to steal deceased woman s donation to Children s Hospital

Two attorneys have been arrested and charged with identity theft, forgery and perjury in connection with a scheme in which they allegedly stole more than $320,000 from recently-deceased clients who had set the money aside to be donated. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Trent Wayne Thompson, 44, with five felonies and Quinton Ray Swanson, 49, with four, including identity theft, perjury and white-collar crime sentencing enhancements. Both were arrested in Hemet on May 5 and were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. Thompson is being held on $321,000 bail and Swanson on $10,000.  The two are accused of a scheme in which they set up a trust account for a 95-year-old woman who said she wanted to donate all of her money to Children’s Hospital. Later, Thompson allegedly designated himself as a “trust protector” of the account.
