Two attorneys have been arrested and charged with identity theft, forgery and perjury in connection with a scheme in which they allegedly stole more than $320,000 from recently-deceased clients who had set the money aside to be donated.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Trent Wayne Thompson, 44, with five felonies and Quinton Ray Swanson, 49, with four, including identity theft, perjury and white-collar crime sentencing enhancements.
Both were arrested in Hemet on May 5 and were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. Thompson is being held on $321,000 bail and Swanson on $10,000.
The two are accused of a scheme in which they set up a trust account for a 95-year-old woman who said she wanted to donate all of her money to Children’s Hospital. Later, Thompson allegedly designated himself as a “trust protector” of the account.

HEMET, CA Two Hemet attorneys have been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following an investigation by the Riverside County District Attorney s Office that alleges the men scammed an elderly woman and bilked a children s hospital.
Trent Wayne Thompson, 44, and Quinton Ray Swanson, 49, were taken into custody Wednesday morning in Hemet by investigators with the DA s Bureau of Investigation.
According to a Friday morning news release from the DA s office, in May 2019 Thompson drafted a living trust for a 95-year-old woman, designating himself as the trust protector meaning he could appoint and manage a successor trustee if his client became incapacitated or died.

A duo of convicted felons in California have been charged with murder after allegedly spotting a Black man walking across the street and deciding to fatally shoot him because he was Black.
William Arnold Armendariz, 24, and Samuel Vasquez, 22, were formally charged on Monday with the November 7, 2015 murder of 51-year-old Charles Warren Neazer in Banning, California, according to a Banning Police Department press release.
On Tuesday, Patch reported that police believe the murder took place after Armendariz and Vasquez spotted Neazer crossing a street and allegedly decided to shoot him because he was Black.
