Employees of IFFCO plant at Phoolpur fall ill following gas leakage in Uttar Pradesh (ANI photo)
PRAYAGRAJ: Two officers of the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) plant in Phulpur died while 16 other employees fell ill following an ammonia gas leak on Tuesday night. The situation is said to be under control while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the bereaved families.
The two technical officers who died in the accident are 47-year-old VP Singh and 57-year-old Abhai Nandan. The two were holding the posts of assistant manager and deputy manager, respectively.

The employees who fell ill have been admitted to the hospital.
A plant unit has been closed and the gas leakage has stopped now. The situation is under control, Prayagraj DM informed.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and has instructed officials to carry out relief work expeditiously.

A plant unit has been closed and the gas leakage has stopped now. The situation is under control, Goswami informed.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and has instructed officials to carry out relief work expeditiously.

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 23 (ANI): An ammonia plunger broke led to heavy leakage of ammonia gas at the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) plant in Phoolpur, Prayagraj, and claimed two lives, said IFFCO on Wednesday. An unfortunate accident took place in urea-1 plant of IFFCO Phoolpur at 10:30 pm yesterday. The tie rods of an ammonia plunger pump suddenly broke and got detached leading to heavy ammonia leakage. Two employees died tackling the accident, said IFFCO.
Thirteen employees and three contract labourers also got affected, it said.
