UMATILLA â The Oregon Department of Corrections has announced the hiring of a new superintendent at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, according to a press release.
Erin Reyes, a former law enforcement, state government and public safety official with more than 25 years of experience, was announced as the new superintendent on Feb. 22.
âI never would have imagined my life and career path would lead me to where I am today,â Reyes said.
Reyes steps into the role after Tyler Blewett resigned in December 2020 after holding the position for a year.
Soon after, the prison was rocked by one of the largest COVID-19 outbreaks seen in Oregon prisons since the pandemic began.

Nearing his two-year anniversary as president, Dennis Bailey-Fougnier resigned from the top job at Blue Mountain Community College on Thursday, Feb. 11.
The BMCC Board of Education formally accepted his resignation at a special meeting, where they also named John Fields, the collegeâs vice president of instruction, as the schoolâs acting president.
In a Friday, Feb. 12, press release, the college stated that Bailey-Fougnier was diagnosed with cancer late last year, and although he initially decided to work through his treatment, he was now turning his attention toward his health.
âBMCC is a fantastic institution with a strong future ahead. I regret that I will not be able to be a part of that future but I have decided I need to focus on my health,â Bailey-Fougnier said in a statement. âI am grateful to everyone who contributes to the success of BMCC.â
