SLATER WOMAN CHARGED WITH ABANDONMENT OF A CORPSE IS SCHEDULED TO BE IN COURT WEDNESDAY

A 31-year-old area woman charged with a felony in connection to the death of a Slater woman remains in custody. Deseray Heyer was arrested on February 3 after authorities were called to a Slater residence where the body of 56-year-old Sharon Lamm was found deceased. Lamm had been reported as missing since January 30. According to court documents, Heyer is charged with a Class E Felony for Abandonment of a Corpse. Bond is set at $50,000. She also is charged in a separate case with and a Class E Felony for Assault. Bond for this charge is set at $10,000 cash only. Heyer was arraigned on both charges on February 5. A Preliminary Hearing in this case is scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 21 at Saline County Circuit Court.

MALTA BEND MAN FACING MULTIPLE SEX-RELATED FELONIES HAS CASE BOUND OVER FOR TRIAL

A 19 year old Malta Bend resident is facing sex related felonies in Saline County. The mother of a 15-year-old juvenile reported to authorities that her daughter alleged that she had been raped, on two separate occasions by a family member, identified as Jayden Browder. Browder is charged with two Unclassified sex-related felonies. Bond is set at $250,000 cash only. Browder waived Preliminary Hearing on April 14. SEDALIA MAN FACING SEX-RELATED FELONY CHARGES DUE IN COURT ON MONDAY, APRIL 12

Postponed a couple of times earlier this year, a Plea/Trial setting hearing is scheduled to be held this week for a Sedalia man whose conviction was set aside nearly a year ago. According to court documents, Jerome Lee Williams II changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on July 10, 2017, to two counts of a sex-related felony involving a juvenile and assault of law-enforcement officers in Saline County and was sentenced to spend a total of more than three decades in state prison on September 11, 2017. However, the conviction for Williams, who is now 23 years old, was set aside on April 19, 2020.
