Kubica, who drove an ART-run BMW in the DTM in 2020, suggested that racing a GT3 car after the championship s switch away from Class 1 touring car rules would be incompatible with his F1 role with Alfa Romeo, which will continue for a second season in 2021. Speaking from the Daytona 24 Hours where he will make his P2 debut with the High Class Racing squad, Kubica said: GT3 is good racing, but it is a completely different way of driving.

The Frenchman, 36, has rejoined the French Signatech team to race its Alpine-Gibson A480 LMP1 car in the Hypercar class of this season s six-round WEC, having previously driven for the squad in 2016-19. Lapierre was announced by Alpine for its return to the pinnacle of sportscar racing for the first time in more than 40 years on Tuesday alongside fellow countryman Matthieu Vaxiviere. They will share the ORECA-developed LMP1 car that raced as the Rebellion R-13 in the WEC in 2018/19 and 2019/20 with team regular Andre Negrao, who was confirmed in the car on the publication of the series entry list last week.
