Two held after pregnant Muncie woman kicked in stomach MUNCIE, Ind.  A Muncie resident was arrested after she allegedly twice kicked another woman, who is 25 weeks pregnant, in the stomach. The pregnant woman, after being treated at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, was also arrested, on allegations she had twice punched the other woman in the face. The arrests came late Thursday after Muncie police were sent to a report of a fight at a home in the 3400 block of North Barnhill Lane. Ashley Jo Newell, 31, was preliminarily charged with battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 6 felony carrying up to 30 months in prison.

It had taken a lot to get WaTasha Barnes Griffin in a chair at Open Door Health Services. Since the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, she had been adamant she wouldn t get one. But in late January, her arm was being prepared for the shot. Bryan Ayars, CEO of Open Door Health Services, was even there with her, helping document her journey. She remembers Ayars jokingly telling her not to scream, to which a nurse replied, “She s not scared of a vaccine.” But that wasn t completely true.
