GUWAHATI: In yet another positive development towards making the fight against Covid-19 a mass movement, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has come forth to donating 78 nos. ICU beds at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital. G Ramesh, Executive Director & State Head from IOCL Marketing office for NE at Guwahati informed Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma about the step taken by the PSU to donate the ICU beds while calling on him at his office chamber at Janata Bhawan today. Health Minister Keshav Mahanta was also present during the visit of the IOCL officials.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while reviewing the prevailing COVID situation in the state, asked the Health Department to ramp up COVID care infrastructure for the children and set up paediatric ICUs (PICU) in all the Medical College and Hospitals and district hospitals.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday made a controversial remark against Raijor Dal s President and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi during the final Assembly session. The CM claimed that Gogoi is mentally unfit to attend the Assembly session.
CM Sarma further said that Gogoi is undergoing treatment for the mental illness since four months at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
While replying to the discussion on Governor Jagdish Mukhi s speech, the CM said, Akhil Gogoi has been undergoing treatment at GMCH since four months due to his mental and psychological issues. How can a person like him be allowed to attend the Assembly session?

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has directed all the government medical college & hospitals to share COVID-19 related information and other aspects to public via social media.
Further as per the directions of the state government, all the eight medical colleges and hospitals are now gearing up to share each and every bit of information on COVID-19 and also share positive stories and solicit feedback and suggestions for the public.

Gogoi contested the election in absentia as he was in jail. He was arrested over sedition charges in 2019 during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. He was also accused of helping set up bases for the Maoists.
