According to him, the sector has made appreciable progress in its anti-smuggling activities within the period under review from April to May.
Peters listed the confiscated items made in 35 seizures to include 637 bags of 50kg of foreign parboiled rice, 795 kegs of 25 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, 15 units of Nigerian used vehicles (means of conveyance), 14 cartons of condensed milk, four cartons of batteries, 14 tin tomato paste and three bags of sugar.
He reiterated that despite the series of attacks by dare devil smugglers and hoodlums on officers on duty, the Sector will not be distracted from executing its mandate.
“Anyone caught disrupting our officers in the line of duty or perpetuating nefarious activities of smuggling shall be made to face the wrath of the law,” he said.

The Area Command of the Nigeria Custom Service, Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, has handed over 632 parcels of Indian hemp, two sacks containing 199 sachets of 1000 pieces of Diazepam to the state command of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state.
A press statement on behalf of the state Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Hafiz Kalla, signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nasiru Manga, disclosed that the decision was a directive from the Comptroller General of Customs, Colonel Ahmed Ali (retd), in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration.
Pointing out that the items were intercepted by officers and men of his command in collaboration with other units of the service, he explained that the Duty Paid Value of the items stands at N22,013,469.

Men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, have seized an articulated vehicle loaded with 600 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice and belonging to Dangote Cement Company.
The NCS personnel also arrested three persons, including the truck driver, as they were conveying the consignment to the eastern part of the country.
The Customs Area Controller, Peter Kolo, disclosed this on Wednesday at the monthly press briefing on the activities of the command in Idiroko.
Kolo said the truck was intercepted in the Ijoun border area of Ogun State.
He added that investigation was ongoing to unmask the persons behind the massive smuggling activity.
Officers of the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) have intercepted 18 contrabands with a Duty Paid Value of 50 million, 378 thousand, 800 Naira in Katsina State.
The success recorded as part of measures and strategies put in place by the command to suppressing smuggling activities to the barest minimum and generate more revenue for the country.
In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Katsina Customs Area Command, the new Acting Comptroller in charge of the Command, DC Dalha Wada pledges commitment not only to facilitate trade but also enhance Ease of Doing Business in the state.

Lagos, May 6, 2021 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command on Thursday said it generated N65, 463, 398, 355.85 in April.
The Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Ibrahim Yusuf, at a media briefing, noted that the record showed an increase of N25, 585, 561, 139.92 compared to the collection of the same month in the year 2020.
“This indicates a 64 percentage increase in collection, and an unprecedented record that has never been achieved in the history of Apapa Area Command,” he said.
Yusuf said as regards anti-smuggling, the command intercepted tramadol and unprocessed wood and scrap copper wire with a Duty Paid Value of N1, 760, 506 363 in the month under review.
