KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) on Sunday decided to remain an ally of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in the upcoming Senate elections, Dunya News reported.
The decision to support the PTI government in the Senate election was taken during the MQM-P Rabita Committee’s second meeting wich concluded on late Sunday night.
According to sources, it was also decided in the Rabita Committee to continue contacts with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) at Sindh level in the future. It is pertinent to mention here that the PPP had sought support from MQM for Yousuf Raza Gilani s seat.

CPEC body seeks recovery of Gwadar land

The Cabinet Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Monday directed ministries to immediately get 116 acres of prime Gwadar land vacated, which was under the possession of law enforcement agencies and was hampering work on CPEC.
The delay in getting the land vacated has slowed down work on the Gwadar Free Zone and Gwadar Eastbay Expressway - the two projects that were very critical for the full functioning of Gwadar Port, showed official documents.

Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Minister Fehmida Mirza on Saturday said that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was answerable to Prime Minister Imran Khan as Pakistan was not a confederation but a federation.
“How are you [Sindh CM] not answerable to the chief executive of the country; you can’t violate the constitution,” she said, adding that the Constitution was a pact between the state and the people and state’s definition was federal government.

The government has decided to recover Rs386 billion from the sugar mills responsible for an acute shortage of the commodity last year.
According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a recent cabinet meeting, asked Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar to brief the cabinet about the actions taken so far on the report of a sugar commission that conducted a probe into the crisis.
The commission led by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had accused sugar mill owners of earning illegal profits worth billions of rupees through unjustified price hikes, benami transactions, tax evasion, misuse of subsidy and purchasing sugarcane off the books.
