TYLER, Texas A Smith County jury has sentenced Anthony Bendy Jr., 35, to 45 years in prison for the offense of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance with a Deadly Weapon.
Prosecutors Noah Coltman and Emil Mikkelsen presented evidence that officers with the
Tyler Police Department stopped Bendy on May 1, 2020 for a traffic offense. When the officer
made contact with Bendy, he observed a jar of marijuana in the back seat of the vehicle.
Officers asked Bendy to step out of the vehicle so he could be detained for a search of
the vehicle. Bendy then grabbed a bag out of the vehicle that was later found to contain

Fort Madison, Ia- The Lee County Narcotics Task Force has reported the arrest of a Fort Madison man on Felony and Misdemeanor drug charges.
34-year-old Mitchell Helmick of Fort Madison was arrested Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, in the 1600 block of 20th st. in Fort Madison.
Helmick was placed under arrest for warrants for Voluntary Absence from Custody and a Judgment Entry/Mittimus. Helmick was also charged with Possession with Intent to deliver more than 5grams of Methamphetamine 2 nd or subsequent offense, a Class B Felony; Possession of Controlled Substance 3 rd or Subsequent Offense- Marijuana, a Class D Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation, a Class D Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
