That vehicle stop was the result of local police forces working together. According to a media release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, in March of 2021 the Saskatoon Integrated Crime Reduction Team (S-ICRT), the RCMP Prince Albert Gang Task Force, the Melfort RCMP and Tisdale RCMP joined forces and learned of information about the presence of large quantities of drugs in the area. A project was established based on information gathered by the RCMP, the Prince Albert Gang Task Force, Saskatoon Police Service Drug Unit, Saskatoon Police Service Patrol members, Saskatoon Integrated Crime Reduction Team and Crime Stoppers. As a result of an investigation that included the efforts of those police forces, plus the Saskatoon Air Support Unit, RCMP Special “I” Section, Saskatoon Special Investigations Unit, Regina Special “O”, Saskatoon Tactical Support Unit and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the April 26 vehicle stop was conducted.

An investigation into a large amount of drugs in the Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Melfort, and Tisdale areas has resulted in a number of charges against two people.
On Monday, April 26, a vehicle was pulled over on Highway 7, outside Saskatoon near Township Road 340, in connection to the investigation. The driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and related drug paraphernalia.
A search warrant was then executed at a home in Bjorkdale on the 100 Block of Hara Avenue. More methamphetamine, ketamine, hydromorphone, and more drug paraphernalia were found.
As a result, 53-year-old Rudi Betthel of Bjorkdale has been charged with five counts of Trafficking, five counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, and five counts of Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
A Fayette man facing multiple felony charges after a one-vehicle traffic crash on March 21, has been sentenced in Howard County.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, the driver left the scene of the crash on Missouri Highway 124 and later was located walking along a street in Fayette. He was identified by a witness of the crash as the person who ran from the scene. A wallet that was located inside the crashed vehicle contained identification belonging to Rodney Wayne Shives. Shives was found to have a suspended or revoked license as well as allegedly in possession of a pill bottle that contained multiple controlled pills.
Drug Dealer Sentenced
Last fall, Michael Schutt was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance to a Minor; Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Marijuana. Two co-defendants were also charged in the case, Meagan Crone and Donald Brower. The crimes occurred last year on October 3rd and 4th. According to court documents, during a search of Schutt’s home, law enforcement seized approximately a pound of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia items and a large amount of cash.
Schutt, at a change of plea hearing in February, pleaded “guilty” to all three of the charges as part of a plea agreement that was reached with the state. District Court Judge John Fenn, at a sentencing hearing Tuesday, rejected the plea agreement and amended the sentence due to a misunderstanding at the change of plea hearing regarding the amount of time Schutt had served.
