Raja Ilya: I turned down Netflix series due to nude scenes

ACTRESS Raja Ilya ( pic) turned down an opportunity to star in a Netflix series two years ago as the role required her to remove her clothes, Harian Metro reported. The actress, who now lives in Perth, Australia, said she rejected the offer because it was not in line with what she wanted. “The part came with a good pay and it was produced by an established production company. “However, I turned down the offer, ” she said without revealing the name of the series which would be aired on Netflix. Raja Ilya, 35, said while she respected the views of others that such scenes were “works of art’’, she personally was uncomfortable taking on such roles.

ARAVINTHAN A worker with the Tanjung Malim Municipal Council has received praise for his honesty in returning a purse found by the roadside, Malaysia Nanban reported. Lingam Sengodu spotted the purse while he was sweeping the streets in Tanjung Malim on Monday. Inside the purse, he found an identity card along with some cash and bank cards. The worker then went to the address in Taman Bandar and returned the purse. The grateful owner wanted to give him a reward but he refused to accept, saying that he was happy to help someone in distress.

Cops want to help JAIS track down Nur Sajat

ARAVINTHAN STATE police are willing to help the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) trace the whereabouts of cosmetics entrepreneur Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruzzaman, better known as Nur Sajat, Utusan Malaysia reported. Acting Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said JAIS had yet to officially contact the police for assistance in the matter. It was reported that JAIS had raided Nur Sajat’s home in Section 10, Kota Damansara at about 9pm on Sunday but was unable to locate him. The well-known entrepreneur is wanted by JAIS for failing to show up at the Syariah High Court to answer charges for dressing up as a woman, which is frowned upon in Islam.
