A RESTAURANT in Melaka has resorted to using a robot waiter to reduce human contact within its premises during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sin Chew Daily reported.
“It was actually comfortable. And the place was air conditioned, ” the bride Nurdiana Amirah Khalid said.
“I don’t think any newlyweds have their ‘reception’ at a KFC outlet before, ” Utusan Malaysia quoted the 25-year-old as saying.
Nurdiana, who is an executive officer at a private company, said she and her husband Hazrin Amree, 26, had initially wanted to eat at a restaurant near Bandar Seri Iskandar right after their akad nikah ceremony but most eateries were closed.
She said there were many people looking at them as they were still wearing their full traditional Malay wedding costume at the fast food outlet.
ANGRY at receiving an ang pow containing only NT$1,000 (RM144), an elementary school boy from Taiwan threw it on the ground and walked away, China Press reported.
The ang pow giver, a female relative, picked it up with the money still inside and posted the incident online.
“Are elementary school children so materialistic now? Do they understand the concept of money? Do they know how difficult it is for adults to earn money?” she wrote.
Apparently, the child threw the ang pow within the giver’s presence.
The post garnered attention online, with many Internet users saying they were appalled at the child’s behaviour.

pic) has accepted the decision by the Pahang Palace to revoke his “Datuk” title, reported Berita Harian.
“I am very proud of and honoured by the Datuk title that was awarded to me by the Pahang Palace on Dec 16,2017.
“I thank the Palace for the esteemed recognition and I accepted it humbly then (in 2017).
“Today, I also respectfully accept the decision by the Pahang Palace to revoke my Datuk title, ” he said in his Instagram post on Wednesday.
He has also disabled the comment section on his account.
The father of two added that he was now focusing on his acting career and was in the midst of promoting his latest movie Remp-it 2 which would be released this year.
A TEENAGER from Sitiawan, Perak, has won an international Tamil public speaking competition, Makkal Osai reported.
The International Budding Star 2021 competition organised by the Vibrant Education group took place online in the last week of January.
More than 600 students from Malaysia, India, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Oman took part in the competition.
Shalini Poobalachandar, 16, a former SJK (T) Mukin Pundut pupil who is now in SMK Methodist (ACS) Sitiawan, gave a speech on mother tongue language that was well received by judges who awarded her first place.
