The FBI said an identified group is planning to storm local, state and federal buildings in opposition of President-elect Joe Biden s inauguration Jan. 20. There is concern about potential threats of violence or threats that are already out there, Gov. Roy Cooper said Tuesday during a news briefing.

(AP) Authorities in North Carolina are investigating the death of an inmate at the Pamlico Correctional Institution in eastern North Carolina. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety said in a statement on Sunday that the person who died was Johnny Autry. The department said that Autry, 44, was being held in medium custody and was serving a sentence as a habitual felon and for drug possession. Authorities said he was in a paranoid state Saturday and that staff were unable to calm him after talking to him for an hour. He entered into medical distress and became unresponsive.

Prison health care workers will receive the vaccine before it is administered to offenders, starting with those 75 years old or older, officials said. With that age group in line first, other prison employees also can receive the vaccine from local health departments. Older inmates and those with underlying conditions will be prioritized during the next phase, followed by everyone else, officials said.

Two charged in Wilmington October murder case

The Wilmington Police Department has arrested two men in connection to the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in October.  Hykeem Quintell Durant, 31, and Dashon Maroze Davis, 30, were arrested in Wilmington on Jan. 5 in connection the death of Charles Bernard Ross Jr. on Oct. 5, according to the Wilmington Police Department.  Both men have been charged with first degree murder and remain in jail without bond.  Around 6:25 a.m. on Oct. 5, police responded to the 4100 block of Princess Place Drive, where they found Ross suffering from life-threatening wounds. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he died during surgery.
