Mumbai reported 10,030 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the second-highest daily count so far, while 31 patients succumbed to the infection, the most in a day since October-end. To contain the spread of the virus, the government s Shiv Bhojan thaali too will be provided as a parcel.In other news, the CBI on Tuesday registered a preliminary inquiry to probe corruption allegations against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The NCP leader, earlier in the day, had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay HC order directing for a CBI probe against him.

KALYAN: With chief minister Uddhav Thackeray planning to impose lockdown in view of the spiking Covid-19 cases, his own party Shiv Sena s ex-corporator Sunil Vayle has been booked after hundreds of people gathered at his daughter s wedding in Kalyan.
The wedding held on Saturday night was in gross violation of the Covid-19 precautionary norms that allow only 50 people to gather for a wedding. The attendants were found without masks and not maintaining social distancing.
The sources said after the video of the wedding went viral, the local Mahatma Phule police have booked three people including Vayle, his relative Suresh Mahatre and Ramesh Singh (Manager of the hall) under IPC section 188 (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 and 270 (Negligent and malignant act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) and under different sections of the Disaster Management Act.
Thane civic body collects Rs 625 cr property tax, up by 24%

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMS) has said that despite the coronavirus pandemic, its property tax collection during the fiscal ending March 2021 grew by Rs 122 crore to Rs 625 crore.
The civic body said this in a release issued on Thursday. Despite the pandemic, people of the city cooperated with the TMC and paid Rs 625 crore property tax, it said.

MUMBAI: The BMC has collected Rs 5,135 crore in property tax for FY 2020-21, the highest in 10 years. The mop-up was 98% of its target of Rs 5,200 crore for the year.
Property tax is the biggest source of revenue for the civic body, and officials said the recovery of taxes
was a major challenge in the wake of the pandemic. The previous highest collection was Rs 5,132 crore in 2017-18.
With Rs 540.3 crore, K East ward was the top contributor. The ward, mainly comprising Andheri (east), Jogeshwari and Vile Parle, is also the largest ward geographically.
