  May 15, 2021 12:07:18 PM The government does not have some of the latest data on coronavirus due to the temporary shutdown of the Fiji Center for Disease Control and Prevention. This comes after the Fiji Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was closed on Thursday after three health staff were tested positive for local coronavirus transmission. Ministry of Health head of health protection Dr. Alisha Sahukhan said due to the temporary shutdown of the Center they do not have the recent data available. Dr. Sahukhan said they are in the process of deep cleaning and decontaminating the centre in line with advice received from the reference laboratory in Melbourne.

But, Dr Fong while speaking during the press conference said they will be able to catch up with the entire backlog once the Fiji Centre for Disease Control and Prevention is back online. He said there will be no testing at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control and Prevention for the next few hours He said they are in the process of deep cleaning and decontaminating the centre in line with advice received from the reference laboratory in Melbourne.
