CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. A Caldwell County man was arrested after he was shot by police during a traffic stop when he pulled out a gun early Wednesday morning, authorities announced.
According to the Caldwell County Sheriff s Office, deputies pulled over a 2003 Ford truck at the intersection of Deerbrook Road and Rocky Road in Lenoir a little before 2 a.m. Deputies stopped the driver due to suspicious activity. During the stop, the driver of the truck sped away from police and initiated a chase onto Husband s Creek Road.
When the driver of the truck stopped, deputies got out to take him into the custody. Police allege that s when the suspect, 27-year-old Jordon Tomas Cornell, pulled out a handgun. Perceiving a threat, deputies fired their service weapons, shooting Cornell twice. He was taken to Caldwell Memorial Hospital for treatment.

An Eddyville woman is facing multiple charges after she fled from law enforcement into Fredonia Friday night.
The pursuit began shortly after 10:00 p.m. on US 641 North after Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Keith Suits attempted to stop a northbound car that was traveling 74 mph and had an equipment violation. He says the driver, later identified as 42-year old Stephanie A. Miles, fled and disregarded the deputy’s lights and siren, and fled into Caldwell County. Miles reportedly drove through yards and then got stuck in a ditch in Fredonia, disabling the vehicle. The deputy says Miles was taken into custody after she fled on foot and was tased.

In an update by Texas Search And Rescue (TEXSAR) on Thursday, at the request of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, TEXSAR says it will be conducting a 3-day search consisting of 100 volunteers searching on foot, along with special teams including search and rescue K9 s trained in human remains detection, the TEXSAR Mounted Search and Rescue Team, UAV/drones, experts in ground search and rescue, side scan sonar, water search resources, and a helicopter search.
