Most city of Pensacola and Santa Rosa County senior dining sites operated under the Council on Aging congregate meal program and will reopen to ages 60 and older on Monday, May 17. The sites closed March 16, 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, meals have been available at these sites via a Monday through Friday grab-and-go platform, but now the locations will reopen to 100% occupancy so older adults can resume the daytime activities they depend on.
For those who can and enjoy getting out for lunch, the Senior Dining Program is a neighborhood-based program which offers older citizens the opportunity to share their lunch with others their age. Hot meals are served to active adults 60 years of age and older at numerous locations throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Marie Ellyn Hamilton Marrier, age 75, of Merrill, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, from cardiac issues. Marie was born on October 2, 1945 at Marinette General Hospital in Marinette, WI to Louis Arnold Hamilton and Velma Glen Ellen Rude Hamilton, both originally of Rhinelander, WI. She had one brother, Jack Allan Hamilton, who was 4 years her senior. Marie grew up in the Town of Scott west of Merrill, having moved to this area at age 8 weeks. She attended a one room schoolhouse for her entire 8 grades of elementary school, a fact over which she expressed both pride and lament. Marie was a 1963 graduate of Merrill Senior High School, 1966 graduate of Columbia Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee, WI, and of the first Family Nurse Practitioner class at the University of Wisconsin Department
Fayette vaccine clinic appointment information
Fayette County’s vaccine task force continues to accept appointment requests for all residents via the county registry at fayettecountypa.org, or by calling 724-430-3900.
Registrants will receive vaccine through one of the countyâs clinics or through a partnering pharmacy provider. The county has also started working with EMS to vaccinate homebound individuals.
Excela vaccine clinic open to all
Excela Health has opened its COVID-19 vaccine clinic to all area residents 18 and older. The clinic is giving the two-dose Moderna vaccine.
Individuals may register online via the Excela Health web site, ExcelaHealth.org, or call 724-689-1690 between 8 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday.
National Day of Prayer observed in Galion

GALION Galion area ministers and residents gathered Thursday to lead a virtual observance of the National Day of Prayer.
Led by Rev. Bill Seymour and other members of the Galion Area Ministerial Association (GAMA), pastors and lay leaders offered prayers for all facets of society, including local, state, and federal governmental leaders; law enforcement and first responders; educators and students; healthcare workers; community residents; business and industry owners and operators; churches; the mental and physical health of all area residents; and for the United States in general.
