Court officials say trial was continued until September 20 for Travis Mayes, who allegedly shot Darrell Bateman at East Second and Vine in February of 2020. Bateman had been subpoenaed to appear Monday, but did not show up. No death penalty sought in Pembroke triple murder case

The suspect accused of the 2015 Pembroke triple murder appeared in Christian Circuit Court Thursday afternoon to discuss matters regarding the case’s upcoming trial next month. Christian Martin, 52, appeared in court via Zoom while at the Christian County Jail while his defense attorneys Tom Griffiths, Doug Moore and Olivia Adams appeared in person in Circuit Court Judge John Atkins’ courtroom. Martin’s trial begins May 31 in Elizabethtown and both the defense and commonwealth have been preparing for a jury trial and how it would proceed with COVID-19 regulations and safety precautions. With that in mind, the Attorney General Special Prosecutors have been meeting with Martin’s lawyers to discuss how the court would select a jury.

Bond reduction denied, trial date set in McHenry St murder case

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 28, 2021 | 3:59 PM A trial date was set and a bond motion was denied Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court in the murder case against Robert Torian. Torian appeared virtually before Judge Andrew Self with defense attorneys Jason Byrd and Hannah Peveler, who explained the motion was a request for a bond reduction Peveler argued that Torian has been incarcerated for almost two years with multiple delays in the case. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerod Smith argued that negotiations have been stalled by lack of counter offers from the defense and at this time, all lab testing has come back.  Judge Self denied the request for reduction in bond, saying he finds it appropriate due to the seriousness of the charges.
