WILMINGTON Three suspected poachers are facing multiple charges and possibly more after an incident in which a wildlife officer was shot in the Martinsville area on Sunday, officers said.
At approximately 4 p.m. Sunday the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Communication Center advising that a wildlife officer had been shot and needed assistance, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wildlife officers and ODNR officers working in the area responded for assistance, as well as officers from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio (FOX19) - An Ohio Department of Natural Resources officer was shot and wounded while investigating an illegal deer hunting complaint in Clinton County, according to the sheriff’s office.
It happened about 4 p.m. Sunday in the area of Macedonia Road and Martinsville Road, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A 25-year veteran wildlife officer was shot in the line of duty Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Kevin Behr was investigating a deer poaching complaint in Clinton County near Macedonia and Martinsville roads when the shooting occurred, according to the Clinton County Sheriff s Office.
Behr was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. On Monday morning, he was listed in stable condition.
Two Greene County men and a Clinton County man were arrested following the shooting.
Brian R. Liming, 49, of Xenia is charged with hunting without permission, not having a deer permit – both misdemeanors – and possessing weapons under disability, a felony. Those convicted of felonies and some violent misdemeanors are disqualified from possessing firearms under Ohio law.
