FEES, fibre-optic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing, is state of the art video endoscopy equipment which allows speech and language therapists to assess patients with swallowing difficulties when in hospital. The equipment allows them to assess how a patient is swallowing and identify any risks which could lead to serious complications and illness. The equipment means it is quicker to assess patients, and in turn will speed up referral to other professionals if a patient needs it. The team have played a key role in the covid crisis.
