Over-speeding: Pedestrian killed in Osun town

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were at the scene for rescue operation. The Sector Commander, Mrs Kudirat Ibrahim, confirmed the incident. She spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the FRSC in the state, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi. The FRSC boss said the vehicle was on high speed and that it hit man and he died on the spot. Meanwhile, the community have refused to allow the corpse to be taken to the mortuary. Police from Gbongan Divisional Police Headquarters have taken over the crashed vehicle.

The circular read, “Further to our circular of Saturday, January 23, 2021 and the attendant protest by students on Sunday, January 24, 2021, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, on behalf of the Senate, has directed that the university be closed with immediate effect until further notice.

He explained that the driver, who died instantly, lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road to hit two women and a motorcyclist. They were taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH). (NAN)
