Enugu, Dec. 22, 2020 The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has called on motorists to closely observe speed limit and road signs as they ply major roads this Yuletide.
The South-East Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Fred Anusim, made the call while flagging-off NEMA’s “Operation Eagle-Eye’’ at the 4-Corner Junction along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Enugu State.
Anusim urged motorists to put their vehicles in order, adding that they should prepare for their journey early and desist from undue haste.
The coordinator said that NEMA would be partnering with other sister agencies and stakeholders especially the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to ensure a hitch-free flow of traffic in major roads.

Three people have been confirmed killed and 33 others injured, on Wednesday, a lone accident on Gwachipe Bridge, Lambatta in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.
Tribune Online gathered that the accident was allegedly caused by the vehicle, a commercial trailer over speeding and due to its overloading; it lost control on the bridge and crashed.
The vehicle which was said to be travelling to Lagos from Kano and had 36 passengers on board the vehicle including the driver.

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has appealed to the federal government to expedite action on the completion of the Second Niger Bridge in order to decongest the high volume of vehicular traffic at the Asaba and Onitsha ends of the old Niger Bridge, which has continued to be a source of headache to travelers.
Okowa stated this yesterday at Government House, Asaba, during a joint press briefing he shared with the Corps-Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, on strategies to ease the flow of traffic on the Niger Bridge during the Yuletide season.

A middle-aged man has been confirmed dead in an accident involving three vehicles along Nnewi-Nnobi road, Nnewi, Anambra State.
Mr Andrew Kumapayi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Tuesday.
He said the accident occurred at about noon.
Kumapayi said that the crash was as a result of overloading of an articulated vehicle.
He said that a total of six male adults were involved in the accident while one of them died in the crash.
