He expressed displeasure that some road accidents resulted from carelessness and impatience and some as a result drunk driving. W/Africa generates 16% of world road crashes, fatalities- FRSC

Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos has said that West Africa generated 16 per cent of road fatalities and crashes in the world.
Ogungbemide made the disclosure at the commemoration of the 2021 West African Road Safety Organisation (WARSO) Day in Lagos on Saturday.
The theme of 2021 WARSO is “Road Safety Consciousness in the Midst of Global Pandemic’’.
According to him, WARSO is the implementation of FRSC policies in West Africa and that only 37 out of 44 countries in Africa were committed to the organisation’s mission.

At least 14 passengers including three children have been burnt to death in a fatal auto crash along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday night.
Three others sustained injuries and had been taken to hospitals for treatment.
It was learnt that the accident happened around 10.20pm on Thursday at the Long Bridge axis of the expressway, Ogun State, inwards Lagos.
The accident involved a silver Toyota RAV 4, the number plate, LND 13 GS, a Toyota Camry, marked GGE 369 GJ and a burnt Mazda bus with an unidentified number plate.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has appealed to Nigerians agitating for the fractioning of the country to jettison such divisive tendencies but join hands with the Federal Government to build a more united and stronger country.
Prof Osinbajo made the appeal while he inaugurated the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Marshall Inspectorate Training School in Owa-Alero, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday.
