Stephen Butts, 30, of Seabrook, was driving a car south on Dumont Drive shortly before 8:30 p.m. on April 2 when the vehicle entered the intersection with Cedar Street and collided with a pickup truck traveling west on Cedar, according to Millville Police. Butts had to be freed from his vehicle by emergency responders. He was taken to a local hospital, then transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he died the following day. A 31-year-old passenger in his car was taken to Cooper for treatment of his injuries.

Tyquan McIntosh, 28, of Minotola, was charged Monday with third-degree aggravated assault after he “purposely, knowingly, or recklessly caused significant bodily injury” to the driver by using excessive force against him during an arrest, according to a statement from the office. The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2020 when McIntosh was on patrol and saw the unidentified 23-year-old man riding an unregistered ATV on public streets, the office said.
