One COVID-19-related death was reported over the weekend by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 301. In addition, 40 new cases of the coronavirus were reported between Friday (April 30) and Monday (May 3), increasing the total to 18,772. 17 people were hospitalized with the virus in Catawba County.
Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Alexander County over the weekend, increasing the total to 4,360. 24 new cases of the coronavirus were reported over the weekend in Burke County, raising the total to 10,059, with 158 deaths. There were eight Burke County residents hospitalized. 25 new cases of the virus were reported over the weekend in Caldwell County, lifting the total to 9,308, with 147 deaths. Four people were hospitalized.
Monday Morning COVID-19 Update
Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last update which was issued Friday (April 30) by Catawba County Public Health. It was the second straight day that new cases were in the single digits. The total number of infections increased to 18,732, with 300 deaths. Coronavirus hospitalizations remained at 14.
Alexander County reported 24 new cases of the virus Friday, raising the total there to 4,351. Three new COVID-19-associated deaths were reported Friday in Burke County, increasing the total to 158. One person was in their 50s and the other two were in their 70s and all three were hospitalized. 39 new cases of the virus were reported in Burke County, increasing the total to 10,035. Six People were hospitalized. 16 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Friday in Caldwell County, lifting the total to 9,283, with 147 deaths. Six people were hospitalized.

The latest update shows that 27% of Catawba County’s residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. One new case of COVID-19 was reported Wednesday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 4,323, with 86 deaths. Five people were hospitalized.
