KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police say it appears alcohol was a factor, as a vehicle crashed into a building in the 200 block of East Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo Wednesday.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers say the driver of vehicle lost control, left the roadway, and struck the unoccupied building.
The 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident sustained minor injuries, and was treated on the scene by paramedics.
The driver was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on an alcohol related driving offense.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â A vehicle hit a building Wednesday in Kalamazoo after the driver lost control, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Michigan Avenue and found a single vehicle had lost control, left the roadway and hit the building.
The building was closed for business and unoccupied at the time of the crash.
The driver, a 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident, received minor injuries and was treated by on-scene paramedics.
Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash and the driver was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Sheriffâs Office on an alcohol-related driving offense.

KALAMAZO, MI The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is asking for tips that will lead to the arrest of a man wanted on charges of felony murder and 1st-degree child abuse, police said in a news release.
Police issued an alert on Dec. 31, naming a suspect in the death of his stepson, 6-year-old Jaylen Worthington, police said. The Kalamazoo Gazette has not named the man at this time because he has not been arraigned on criminal charges.
“We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jaylen Worthington, who passed away due to complications from trauma on Dec. 23,” KDPS Captain Craig Habel said in a Dec. 31 news release.

KDPS arrests drive-by shooting suspect

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer intercepted an individual connected to an earlier drive-by shooting Thursday.
Police responded about 1 p.m. to a report of gunfire in the 1900 block of South Burdick Street, according to a news release.
Witnesses gave police a detailed description of a vehicle and the individual involved as officers were arriving to the area.
An officer responding to the call intercepted the described vehicle.
When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled.
They soon abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
