A Sligo TD has slammed Fianna Fail and Fine Gael TDs for turning their backs on young families who are trying to buy a home for themselves.
Sinn Fein s Martin Kenny says his party brought a motion to the Dail this week that would end the tax breaks that allow private investment funds to snap up family homes, driving up housing prices.
Deputy Kenny has been telling Midwest News that Instead of standing up for families and the Irish people this Government choose to side with private investment funds.

The Junior OPW Minister has announced the step to remove fees takes effect immediately.
Its part of the Government s recovery plan after inter-county travel resumed and museums and galleries opened earlier this week.
There are numerous sites across Connacht that can now be accessed free of charge; including Atherny Castle, Boyle Castle, Pearse’s Cottage and Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery.

Thirteen projects in communities around county Mayo are to be funded under the Mayo County Council Decade of Centenaries Grant 2021.
Details of the projects were outlined today at Mayo County Council s Culture and Heritage SPC
The aim of the commemorative funding is to ensure that events are remembered at community level in a respectful, measured, inclusive and non-partisan manner that recognize the differing perspectives on our shared history. The projects to be supported are:

Gardai have seized €90,000 of suspected cocaine following a search of a car in Co Galway yesterday evening.
Gardai attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car on the outskirts of Tuam at about 7pm, and during the search, a quantity of suspected cocaine was seized.
A man in his early 20 s was arrested and taken to Galway Garda Station.
He s since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
