ketamine drugs and plastic straw for smell. A SOUTHAMPTON man was caught behind the wheel of a car while under the influence of an illegal tranquiliser. Jamie Lee Clarke was pulled over on Solent Avenue driving a Ford Focus. A drugs test revealed that the 22-year-old of Elwood Close had traces of ketamine in his system. Uninsured at the time, he also tested positive for traces of THC - a breakdown product of cannabis. Appearing before Southampton Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to the motoring offences which happened on November 15 last year. He was banned from the roads for 12 months and fined £150.
A MAN has been charged with possessing a Class A drug and interfering with a vehicle in Nursling. James Steven Cooper, 28, of Paignton Road, Southampton, was accused of one count of vehicle interference and possession of a Class A drug, following a police investigation. Hampshire police were alerted to reports of a man trying a car door handle outside an address on Jerrett s Lane just before 1am yesterday (May 16). The force was called after the victim was warned about movement on his driveway by his Ring doorbell. Cooper was remanded in custody and was due to appear before Southampton Magistrates Court today (May 17).

Darren Cooper before his sentencing at Southampton Crown Court A MAN rammed a patrol car during a police chase claiming it was an accident. Darren Cooper led police on a chase while driving a blue Mazda, a court heard. The 41-year-old was spotted in New Road, Fawley, but failed to stop when a police car switched on its blue lights. He later reversed the car and rammed into the patrol car before speeding along Blackfield Road. Prosecution barrister, Catherine Donnelly, told how Cooper eventually fled from the vehicle on foot. But, when a police officer ran after him telling him to stop, he threatened him verbally.

Philip Rosher, 34, of no fixed abode, has been charged with 14 alleged shoplifting offences that took place between March 22 and May 4. The offences, that mostly took place in Bitterne are: • On Monday, March 22, at around 8.20am, items worth approximately £75 were stolen from Tesco Express on Witts Hill, Bitterne. • On Monday, April 5, at around 9.35pm, items worth approximately £107 were stolen from Tesco Express on Witts Hill, Bitterne. • On Tuesday, April 6, at around 4.10pm, items worth approximately £33 were stolen from Tesco Express on Winchester Road, Fair Oak.
