Authorities ID Victorville man shot and killed on Christmas Day in Hesperia Victorville Daily Press Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed in Hesperia on Christmas day, while the suspects remain at large. The man was 39-year-old Travon Alexis, of Victorville, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday. Deputies responded at 4:46 p.m. Dec. 25 to the area of Bear Valley Road and Seventh Avenue to a report of a man down. They found Alexis “unresponsive in the roadway and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” sheriff’s officials said. He was taken to Desert Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Southern Califoniapolice officer was wounded Tuesday afternoon while attempting to arrest a homicide suspect, who later died in an exchange of gunfire, authorities said. The female officer, who was not identified, was expected to recover, San Bernardino police Chief Eric McBride told the San Bernardino Sun. Police officers were trying to arrest the homicide suspect when the shooting occurred. The suspect was wanted in connection with a slaying that occurred earlier this year, the Sun reported. The suspect died from injuries while the wounded officer was being treated, according to the department.

According to a tweet from the police department, officers were involved in a shooting Tuesday afternoon that left a suspect dead and an officer injured. The shooting happened off of Baseline Street, near Elm Street in the city of Highland while officers were attempting to arrest a suspect with a warrant for homicide, according to the department. According to police, Shyheed Robert Boyd was wanted in connection with the death of Donte Dejuan Carr. Officers were attempting to arrest Boyd when he allegedly ran in an attempt to escape. While he was running, the department said he turned around and opened fire on the officers with a handgun striking an injuring one.
