After two years on the force, on Wednesday the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office announced the retirement of K9 Benny.
The K9 is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who came arrived to the Sheriff s Office from France in late 2018. Benny is set to retire to the care of his handler, Deputy Justin Ughoc.
Benny s retirement comes after the K9 sustained a career-ending injury during a training exercise in September. According to the Sheriff s Office, Benny had to undergo surgery for an injury to one of his legs.
