Give Big CHQ registration now open | News, Sports, Jobs

May 11, 2021 Submitted Photo Heritage Ministries is one of many nonprofit organizations participating in Give Big CHQ 2021. The deadline for organizations to register for this year’s event is May 21. Nonprofit organizations located in Chautauqua County are invited to register for Give Big CHQ, a 24-hour online fundraising event scheduled for June 10. Hosted by the Chautauqua Region and Northern Chautauqua Community Foundations, Give Big CHQ raises awareness and dollars for local nonprofit organizations. Since 2018, more than 2,500 individuals and businesses have come together to generate over $620,000 for nonprofits throughout the county. “Give Big CHQ started as a way for nonprofits to easily collect online donations to support their missions,” said Liz Jones, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation community impact officer. “It has also become a fun and engaging event to bring the community together to help celebrate the important work of local nonprofits.”

City Breaks Ground on New Skatepark

City Breaks Ground on New Skatepark City officials, funders, and community members broke ground on the future skatepark in Jamestown Thursday. The poured concrete structure will be located between the Chadakoin River and Greater Jamestown Riverwalk at 117 Fairmount Avenue. Mayor Eddie Sundquist said not every community has been able to break ground on a project like this in a middle of a pandemic, “So the fact that we’re still working on behalf of our kids, our youth, here in the City of Jamestown to make sure we have a space where they can be the best they can be is so incredibly important.”
