Ford Mustangs have been at the heart of American Motorsports for almost 60 years, with its big 6-0 coming in just 3 short years (as it was technically released as a 65 model year in 1964 at that year’s World’s Fair). In 2023, we’re expected to see the release of the first production Electric Mustangs, but in 2019, a company named Webasto helped Ford bring a Mustang to SEMA with around 900 horsepower of pure electric excitement.

As the world keeps turning and gas engines are becoming a thing of the past, auto manufacturers must either adapt to the changing world or stagnate and collapse. Even FCA group, with Dodge and all of its gas-guzzling Hellcats and Scat-Packs and various other massive v8 s, is beginning down the EV path and is expected to stop purchasing Emissions credits from Tesla soon, as their own product line will be low enough emissions to not need the supplemental credits to avoid paying massive fines
2021 SEMA Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
Jessi Combs, Rick Love, Bob Moore, and Carl Schiefer join elite group of pioneers and legends
DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (May 6, 2021) Four dedicated individuals who contributed to and have had an impactful influence on the automotive specialty equipment industry are being honored as new SEMA Hall of Fame members. They will join an elite group of icons who comprise the SEMA Hall of Fame, as they are officially inducted at the SEMA Installation & Gala on July 30 in Las Vegas, Nev.
The four newest SEMA Hall of Fame members are Jessi Combs, Rick Love, Bob Moore, and Carl Schiefer.

Annual SEMA Show Back on for 2021

The 2020 SEMA show was canceled just three months before it was set to take place in early November.
This year, the Las Vegas Convention Center has expanded the West Hall, to allow for more exhibitors as well as wider aisles.
Between now and November there are 23 major conventions scheduled at the LVCC, something SEMA organizers will be keeping an eye on.
The Specialty Equipment Market Association, aka SEMA, will hold its gala extravaganza for the automotive aftermarket Nov. 2-5 this year, after (finally) cancelling last year’s show because of the COVID-19 pandemic. And while SEMA kept saying right up until three months before showtime last year that it would be able to hold a safe event despite the raging pandemic, this year they really mean it. It’ll be Safety First in 2021.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) implemented a new regulation permitting low-volume automobile manufacturers to construct and sell limited numbers of replica vehicles, subject to intellectual property, safety, and configuration requirements.
Background
Since 2011, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and other industry entities have pressured Congress for exemptions allowing small companies to produce and sell a limited number of replica vehicles. These efforts culminated in the passage of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST) in 2015, which created an exemption for low-volume automakers to construct and sell up to 325 replica vehicles in the U.S. each year subject to regulatory oversight. The Act defines replica vehicles as motor vehicles that resemble cars produced 25 years ago or more.
